As a follow on to our September story about increased powers for the DVSA (Driver Vehicles Standards Agency), in particular in relation to drivers taking a weekly rest in a properly designed sleeper cab, the RHA have joined the debate.

They have had clarification that the DVSA will take no action against a driver using a formal designated truck stop or motorway service area for such a purpose. However this still does not include a lay-by or other places where there are no facilities for the driver. Fines and prohibitions will commence from 1st November 2017.
