We are delighted to announce that Simon Evans, the Traffic Commissioner for the North West of England, will be making an appearance at the Seminar Theatre at this year’s Movers & Storers Show, taking place at Event City in Manchester. Mr Evans will be speaking on Wednesday 21 November.

Simon Evans worked as a chief officer in the magistrates’ courts service, and served as a justices’ chief executive and a justices’ clerk in Cumbria. He subsequently took office as the first Area Director of Her Majesty’s Courts Service (HMCS) in the region.

He left HMCS in 2007 to pursue a portfolio career, working as a Deputy Traffic Commissioner, a Fee Paid Judge on the Social Entitlement Chamber, a Lay Member (Chair) of the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Fitness to Practice Panel and an Independent Member (Chair) of the Parole Board for England and Wales.

Simon had previously worked as a management consultant supporting and advising the Croatian Government and its courts on its application for EU membership and as a former member of the Judicial Studies Board.

In his current role he is responsible for the licensing of the operators of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and of buses and coaches known as Public Service Vehicles (PSVs), the registration of local bus services, granting vocational licences and taking action against drivers of HGVs and PSVs.

Show Organiser Charlotte Parslow said ‘we are delighted to welcome Simon to The Movers & Storers Show and know he will prove an interesting and informative speaker for our growing audience at the show’s Seminar Theatre’.
