This year, we have two fantastic competitions open to the entire industry. We can almost guarantee extensive press coverage if you participate, as well as the chance to win some great prizes and, of course, plenty of glory.
Basil Fry 2011 Movers & Storers Truck Show

The Truck Show was one of our most popular features in 2010, and with the support of sponsor Basil Fry & Co, its back for the second year in a row. Entrance is open to everyone from man-and-van operators right up to international companies. There are three categories you can compete in:
- Best removal vehicle (3.5t +) from a company with 5 vehicles or less
- Best removal vehicle (3.5t +) from a company with 6 vehicles or more
- Best small vehicle – this could be an unusual company car, an immaculately kept van, a vintage vehicle – basically, anything that isn’t a truck!
The best small vehicle category is open to self storage companies as well as removal firms. Vehicles will be judged on the condition and cleanliness of the vehicle (age will be taken into account), quality of graphic design, quality of vehicle body design for purpose, and cab layout (for trucks). The judging panel will include several industry experts.
The cost is £35 per entry. Winners will receive a crystal trophy, vehicle/window stickers, a £100 cash prize, the use of a specially designed ‘Winner’ logo on their website and paperwork, and a reimbursement of the entry fee. Please note that winning vehicles from the 2010 Truck Show are not eligible to compete.
Simpson Packaging 2011 Packer of the Year Competition

Brand new for 2011 is the Packer of the Year Competition – proudly sponsored by Simpson Packaging and organised in association with M&G Transport.
Do you think you have the best crew in the country? We’ll see…
A wooden storage container, a huge pile of boxes and export-wrapped goods, and a stopwatch. Simple. The winner will be the crew who fit all of the objects into the container (without damaging anything), and if more than one team complete the challenge, then the fastest time will win. The competition is open to any two-person crew who currently work in removals, storage or self-storage in any capacity. You may enter more than one crew per company, but each crew may only have one attempt.
Entry is free, but we would ask you to register your entry in advance for organisational reasons. Last minute entries will only be permitted if time allows. The winning team will receive a crystal trophy, a £50 cash prize, vehicle/window stickers and the use of a specially designed ‘Winner’ logo on their website and paperwork, as well as lots of fantastic PR.
