For those of you who have attended The Movers & Storers Show in the past, you’ll know that we strongly believe in raising money for worthwhile causes. This year is no different, but is a rather special one for us.
Our chosen charity for 2018 is based in Manchester and has links to a very special individual who sadly passed away a few months ago. That person was Malcolm Halley (of Britannia Bradshaws / BCL) and the charity is one he gave great support to – Prevent Breast Cancer. His company even painted two of their vehicles bright pink to help promote the charity, and you’ll be able to see one of these being used as part of the Britain’s Strongest Mover event on Wednesday 21st November.
Prevent Breast Cancer are the only UK charity entirely dedicated to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer, and they are committed to freeing the world from the disease altogether. Unlike many cancer charities, they are focused on preventing, rather than curing; promoting early diagnosis, screening and lifestyle changes, and hopefully stopping the problem before it starts. Being situated at the only breast cancer prevention centre in the UK, they are right at the front-line in the fight against this disease (which incidentally affects 390 men in the UK each year – it’s not just women!).
In memory of Malc, and with your help, we are hoping to raise a significant sum this year. Here at The Movers & Storers Show we will put our money where our mouth is – we will provide the charity with £250 to help get the ball rolling. So what can you do? Come along to the show (make sure you have registered in advance so you can get in for free) and then there will be lots of opportunities for you to donate a pound (or more) at the event.
