Shurgard have been awarded the 'UK Self Storage Facility of the Year' award by FEDESSA and the SSA (UK) for their Gypsy Corner branch in London. It is one of 22 facilities the company operates in London and the Thames Valley, and benefits from being located right on the A40.

Indeed, the Store Manager says that over 40% of their business comes from people noticing the store as they drive by. The facility has almost 800 individual rooms to rent, and is over 80% filled with residential customers.

I must admit to not being familiar with the judging criteria, but will assume that the award can be attributed (at least in part) to the efforts of key staff members - Store Manager Omair Javed and Assistant Store Manager Shaun Betty. Shurgard Europe's Chief Executive Officer ad interim commented "We are extremely pleased with this award, especially since competition in the self storage industry in the UK, and particularly in Greater London, is fierce."
