Britain’s Strongest Mover is probably our most exciting competition, established just two years ago with the support of sponsor Britannia Movers International. Designed to showcase some of the key manual handling skills required by removals operatives, it consists of three tough events:
- The Dead Lift
Time limit – 60 seconds.
Weight – Almost 200 kilos, comprised of an upright piano, a dishwasher and a washing machine, all attached to a specially designed lifting platform.
The number of good lifts will be announced at the end of the attempt.
- The Lorry Load
This event will take place inside the building using a specially constructed platform the same height as a truck. There is no time limit – each contestant is against the clock.
Weights – Contestants must load five bags of sand onto the platform:
60kg bag = 10 meters away
70kg bag = 8 meters away
80kg bag = 6 meters away
90kg bag = 4 meters away
100kg bag = 2 meters away
- The Truck Pull
Time limit – 2 minutes.
Weight – an unladen 7.5t lorry – c.4 tonnes
In this iconic event – a signature World’s Strongest Man discipline – contestants will try to pull a truck over a 40m distance, using every last ounce of strength and stamina they possess. There will be a driver in the truck to ensure everyone’s safety.
Our facilitator and judge for this competition is Faye Jordan, two-time British Powerlifting Champion, three-time British Bench Press Champion, and organiser of the Britain’s Strongest Woman event. She will provide assistance and instructions to all participants, and will ensure that the contest is run safely and fairly.
