Bespoke Bodies and SBR, two of the best known names in the body building business, have agreed to merge their businesses.
Putting the two family-owned companies together will increase the level of resources available for product innovation, give customers a greater level of security and reduce lead times.
The merged business will offer a wide range of products, including draw bars, demounts, removals bodies in sizes from one to six containers, as well as any bespoke requirements that a company may request. Bespoke and SBR have worked together on many projects in the past. With more joint projects imminent, it made financial sense to merge the two companies.
Head office in Woolston Grange
Bespoke Bodies began life in Wigan and moved in 2005 to Warrington town centre. Since then it has moved again to Woolston Grange, just off junction 21 of the M6. This site – perfect for coming in for easy repairs off the M6 – will serve as the head office of the expanded business. SBR’s premises in Preston will run as a second workshop for the foreseeable future. As well as holding vehicles in stock for the removals industry to buy, the company also offers removals companies a range of rental options. Margaret Sturt, Managing Director of Bespoke Bodies, will continue to head the business and look after type approval, human resources and quality.
Bespoke is a founder member of the VBTA (Vehicle Builders Type Approval) association and has type approval for a large number of chassis. “We are able to source reliable and quality second hand chassis, which are just right for our clients in the removals industry,” Margaret says. Chris Seville, the owner and director of SBR, will become Director of Operations. He will oversee production and look after his current clients. John Sturt will be Technical Director, and as well as looking after his current clients he will help develop new business and design Bespoke’s offerings following the merger. John’s experience in coach building – with almost 50 years in the business – combined with Chris’s knowledge and experience of building for the removal industry will help the expanded company enhance their solutions for removals companies. Laura Yardley, Office and Marketing Manager, advises existing customers of both companies that “if you have dealt with Bespoke or SBR before then please continue to deal with the same person.”
